Eye single to the glory of God

Dear Ones,

This week! transfer calls! and me and sister Eyre are staying together... prayers answered! it is so great with sister Eyre, and mission is hard, and i love that we are friends and each others moms and we trust each other. We are lucky to be together, but we work really hard too! the Assistants to the President in our call said that we have the most energy in the whole mission... us the newbies! what! so awesome though! we love that we have energy but we really want to baptize! and we have a new theme for this transfer and its 'eye single to the glory of God' sometimes i get scared to be bold in lessons but we are over that. our eye is single to the glory of God! We want friends here but mostly we want friends in the celestial kingdom!!!

Really, I'm so lucky. we went on splits with the zone leaders this week and it was cool to see really good french speakers teach and how i would love to teach. I learned a lot. but really, this week I've just been so HAPPY! I'm on my mission! this is is! its so fun! every part of the day is just so awesome! i really am so happy to be serving! its just a good feeling.

Also, in litle Goyave, there is elections happening and its sersiouly like high school. theres cars driving around with speakers with these songs that me and sister eyre just cant stand!! and  cardboard posters! we feel like elections at our high school were more professional!

Also, I love teaching and speaking french. I just have this love for the people that I cant really descibe and i just want to help them reach their potential! we have this one awesome investigator who just cracks me up he like LOVES Jesus which is awesome! hes just not coming to church... thats our hardest thing but we pray really hard for it and were are trying to get these people who are so prepared BAPTIZED!

But thanks for the love and support! still have yet to received a letter haha so write me friends!

Love,

Positive thinking

Hello,

Some highlights from this week include our sister training leader came! I forgot to get a picture with her but she helped me so much!  I just understand so much more about missionary life now, and i just got this desire to be better after seeing her teach! Also it would be so much easier if it was in english! But this week we learned about being positive, so i decided something, everytime i think i cant speak the language or that im bad at it;;; thats negative thinking! and ive changed! no more thinking i stink! Because thats negative! Thats made such a difference in my language abilities! iIcan speak french! (a little) (enough at least) thats a cool thing!!!!

Also, concerning my branch- yes we have a branch. I am now ward pianist? Children pianist and chorister and must teach the primary their songs! in french! haha crazy! But i like it, im literally here to help this branch in any way i can so that is one of the ways!

Really though, positive thinking. I want to write a book about the power of positive thinking when I get home. Works miracles!

We got invited to basically a party by someone, check out this picture! They also are so receptive of the gospel!  And saturday we went down by the beach because we thought there were houses down there but there wasnt... anyways we found a lady and started teaching her and I was literally looking at the beach, hearing the waves. im so blessed! I have such a good life! and today we did a beautiful hike! I love being a missionary, I love serving! Be positive this week guys! it will make such a difference!

Love you,
Soeur Tenney

" Communication is VITAL in every aspect of life"

Mamacita...and everyone

This week! great week! I think its a great week because i was so ready for a break for my p day.. thats good! I think that means i was working hard!!!!

Anyhow, WE GOT BIKES! actually it kinda hit my pride a little i was just like 'well, its official, no denying it now im a missionary' haha jk its great but the helmet is what i cant handle haha i feel so lame in it! tha bike however is super super great! oh!!!! I love biking around goyave, everyone knows us now too!  So thats great! hopefullly with the pictures you can kinda tell what goyave looks like idk am i sending good enough pictures?  Its so beautiful here, its amazing that i get to work here! preaching the gospel, beach, sun, and french i literally think im in my paradise! Also, we run to the beach every morning. no big deal.

But some spiritual things! ether 12:27 was my scripture this week. i just felt so inadeqaute you know and was really struggling with talking and feeling comfortable with the language. One day though I just exercised my faith in ether 12:27 and that literallty just made my weakness a strength! ok well, im not fluent but im pretty good at understanding, and im getting way better at talking in little conversations with people that are so great! communication is so vital here in EVERY ASPECT of missionary work, its really just so important! So french is coming good, id say, and im at the point where i dont try and pretend like i understand everything. If i dont understand everything i make them explain it to me so that i can. oh I love french. Sister Eyre and I speak only french on wednesdays to each other, its SO GREAT! Thats actually helped a lot with my language learning.

Concerning the weather, its rains randomly, kind of hard too! It rained a couple of times when we were biking, haha what do ya do? The life of a missionary! It just shows the people how much we love them! Also, a really neat thing happened last night, we come in a little earlier now to finish some of our studies, so last night we were training and we were reading the plan of salvation in french together in preach my gospel, and we read about the atonement, and i just felt the spirit so strongly. We always tell people we have a message about Jesus, and i just really feel like i have the capacity to talk about Him because I KNOW WHO HE IS. He is SO important to our lives! I have a testimony of Him! I know He is the only way to happiness and eternal life! I love the plan of salvation so much its my favorite lesson to teach.

People usually always let us in but some people just arent searching for more which is sad. Eveyrone needs this gospel and it can bless you so much! I pray to find people that are ready to make the change for a better life with the gospel.

Hope I gave you a little taste of my week! honesly just know that I love this work! I'm ready to see some of the fruits of my labor, but the labor is good!

Love you Mom! love everyone!

"Basic day as a missionary"

Yay mom! I' m so happy you have a lot of questions, because I am so happy to answer them!!

So a normal day as a missionary? Well thats funny because this week, we had that big activity on p-day so we had to shop and email on Tuesday. Then wednseday I had to do a little stuff for my visa, but there have been some normal days so i'll try and explain them!
Usually i wake up, go on a run with sister eyre, we chat.. she loves chatting so thats fun... haha then get ready and study for a couple hours!! Personal, comp, and language training! so great!  Without studies, I am nothing, i am so lost if i haven't studied in the morning (like when i had to do my visa stuff that one morning) I missed my studies! I have such a testimony of studying ! When i study personally, with my  companion and language, i know the spirit will help me with what i need to say and so in the day.. studies are so important!!
So then we go out for the day and we walk! We dont have bikes but were getting them this week! im so excited for bikes! our area is called goyave and its a cute little jungly sort of town (so not like a touristy place) and the church is in capesterre, the neighboring city, so its a little hard to get people to church. But we fasted this week for people to be able to come to church and we had some amis (investigators) there! That was a miracle! and mostly in the day we have rendzvous/lessons with amis! and if they fall through we go contacting! for us its pretty great because were two white girls, so people will usually talk to us, but we have to be straight up... that we're here to share our message and people are pretty open and ready to listen!
FOOD! theres some great guadeloupian food but mostly we cook for ourselves and thanks to some great recipes from you and her mom we eat like QUEENS! only when weve come in for the night haha but feeding ourselves is like our  stress relief, and feeding our selves well :)

So the church is in Capesterre and the members are great! I love church.. i have such a testimony of going to church! for me personally and for my amis! Our spirits need church every week and i just have such a strong testimony of that.. the branch is super pumped about missionary work.. Theres not very many members but the members love to work with us! One sister bore her testimony about how grateful she was that the sister missionaries,(us), are there and she works with us every thursday.. I feel like i have a family here with church, its so great!
So yes we walk a lot and i just love Goyave! I can see the ocean when i walk a lot, haha and lots of times we stop at the Goyave trees to eat a Goyave and i love the weather! Its hot in the middle of the day to walk around, but i dont mind, Id rather be hot than cold! so many animals too! lizards are everywhere in peoples homes on the streets! haha and cows and chickens just roamin! life on my island in Guadeloup is good :)
But we work hard and expect miracles.. this week we have seen so many! there are so many prepared people and i just have such a testimony of this gospel!
So hopefully you got a taste of my life! Sometimes its not always perfec,t but I just work like everythings in my hands and pray like everythings in Gods hands and I see miracles!

Love you all,

Soeur Tenney
