Patience-Christlike attribute

Hi Meme,

I remember when the siblings were on missions, mondays were the best.. sorry thats me now!!  Thanks for that quote. I love that you think I'm that happy, but I guess I am! haha sometimes it is hard, but whenever I get out of the house, talking to people and serving and teaching others, I just love my life! I'm still adjusting to the shack life but its good. My companion is super clean and its rubbing off on me! I'm a clean freak now!  haha!!**

So this week we did exchanges with our sister training leader and Sister dorsan left me and I was afraid she'd come back and not like Goyave, but then she came back and LOVED goyave, and loved me even more. She said, I'm a good trainer and she loves me so much :) that made me feel good! This week I've been just trying to feel guided. Trying to let the Lord lead, and He has!  I find that when we plan in the night with the Spirit where to go, Heavenly Father puts people in our path that our ready to hear our message!

Last night, it was mothers day here so everyone was with ther moms. So we were contacting and we found these nice houses!! with rich french people, and french people are SO RUDE!! People were laughing at us and saying religion is not my thing! oh man how i was grateful i was not in france! haha but then I said a little prayer, "Heavenly Father I know we're here for a reason, please give us one person over here who is ready for the gospel' and we had finished to the end of the street and I thought this man was the one but he wasnt! So, on our way back, we pass this house with a dog that scared Sister dorsan before, she hates dogs, but a man was outside and we start talking to him,and he said  'ya of course come back!!' Anyways, moral of the story, its always the last house! haha I love that! I knew we wouldn't leave that rich area empty handed! Theres a classic misison story for ya!

Also, we've got this awesome investigator named Christine who was at church yesterday, she is one of those people who is just prepared. Sister Dorsan and I love her so much! She has read so much of the Book of Mormon already and we met her just a little over a week ago! The Lord always prepares people for you!

Also, we got to teach this 20 year Patricia in Englsih and that was just amazing. The Spirit was so strong and she said she could prepare to be baptized on the first lesson! oh my gosh! I love this work so much!

This week, I learned that we need to have patience. Its a Christlike attribute! Patience for things to come in our life, patience for our life in the Celestial kingdom! I just really am trying to master the art of being Patient. Also, whoever is readin this should make sure they read ch 6 in Preach My Gospel, changed my life, Im reading it again and again and again haha!!

Mommy, I love you so much! Life in Goyave is so good! Its hard to send pictures in this internet place but I'll try. Thanks for being such a good example to me i love you!!

Temple preparation

Momma dear,

So fun you got to go to Stephens on Sunday! I had a good Sunday!  We had a fireside at the church and got to talk and meet with the
members, thats awesome!

So this week!  Sister Dorsan and I worked so hard!!!!! SO HARD! We taught so many people! I tried so hard to be effective! But sometimes, your amis just don't come to church, and it really stinks. Sister dorsan and I just want to baptize! We are trying so hard! My new goal is to go to the temple with one of my investigators, I'll try and think of that every time I meet someone... can this person go through the temple with me in a year? haha its awesome!

Our mission president has us read the book of mormon every 3 months. Its the best thing ever! That takes pretty much all my study time, but i love it!  We've also been told to be preach my gospel misisonaries! so thats what we try and do!!! I figure if I'm being a preach my gospel missionary im being a good trainer! idk! Sometimes I have to stop and think, am I sure I know what im doing? But then the Lord will put someone really prepared in our path and I'm good. I got this. haha like Wednesday, our day just  wasn't shaping and we went to the man that i was just not really  stoked for, but our other plan fell through, and what do you know, his granddaughter was there and she was super prepared! She had met us before, but she told us, I've been praying, and I think now I'm ready to have God back in my life. That was the best!

Sister Dorsan is just the best! She is so good at giving people baptismal dates! I could be better at that! haha but the other night we were planning on our porch table cause our house is so small, and this huge moth bird come in and Sister dorsan was like 'oh shoot i gotta kill it!!!' She got our brooms and was just  wacking it like crazy and I just locked her out of the house because i didnt want that thing in our house, and she was so mad at me but it was hilarious! It felt like we were in a youtube video for a second!!! haha

This gospel is so good. we are working hard! I try and make you proud everyday family! I love you so much!!!!

OBEDIENCE- the first principe of Heaven

Ah yes... yesterday was mothers day aka I got to talk to my BEAUTIFUL FAMILY!! just fuels me! haha because one of my favorite things is to teach about how the gospel blesses families and that you can live with your family forever!!!! anyways so that was the best thing ever!

So this week started off weird because we had to do a lot of cleaning for the old apartment. then wed sister eyres new companion was here and we were in a trio walkin around goyave. Then thursday night Sister DORSAN got here! oh my gosh she is just the best! She is haitian but lived in florida her whole life. donc, creole is her first language!! (also sorry family that it was so hard for me to speak english yesterday im used to franglais haha) but yes she speaks creole! and i have a testimony that Heavenly father sends people where they need to be because Goyave needs sister Dorsan!!!! She is literally taking over and converting everyone!!!!

So our first day was friday and Heavenly Father just blessed us with a perfect day. All our appointments were great and Sister dorsan, she understands everything, shes just working on her french. In 2 of our lessons though she wooped out some of her creole though!!! that was so awseome!!!!! With sonia, a baptized member who is now evanglelist, Sister dorsan totally just softened her heart!! and with these other 2 guys we taught, i had a really cool moment. She was teaching in creole and frederic was teaching in creole and i could understand it all but i could just add what i wanted in french, oh my goodness i was sitting there, on the steps of these lovely apartments mind you haha, and just loving life! creole is so cool! french is so cool! i am so blessed! sister dorsan is so perfect here!

Saturday was awesome too. I have a testimony of being obedient! If an appointment falls through your supposed to talk to the first person you see says President Mehr, so we passed this guy and finally i was like ok i should probably talk to him. and we sort of taught him right there, and I invite him to church and told him Id call him to remind him.... guess who showed up at church! what a miracle!! I love being obedient! Its the first principle of heaven you know haha*

Then to top it all off i was just like ok, what do we do now? So we go to this girl weve been teaching for a while and she hasnt come to church because she wants a sign!! But then sis Dorsan asked her to pray, and shes never prayed with us, but she did and then after her prayer she was just really smiling and laughing and just saying 'im so happy! I dont know what it is im just so happy!' and we were like 'whitney...!!' and she was like 'i know i know its my sign!!' so shes going to go to church with us next week :)

Then i got to talk to my family that i love so much :)

Mission life is good, i love serving the Lord so so much! Goyave is so awesome thanks for all the love and support!

je t'aime!

1st baptism

Hey momma,

Wow! what a week!!!!!!!! ok so some highlights of the week! first of all we went to seminary tuesday night, they have it every morning except tuesday they have it at night, with one of our investigators Chloe and that was so fun! and regarding Chloe, she didn't get baptized this week, but DANIEL DID!!!! Daniel Valmy! He's nine years old and he is just the best. he just knows everything and hes the best primary kid too, he always tries really hard to memorize the songs when i teach them to the kids! ok let me tell you how the baptism went:

so first, Sis eyre and i both had awesome grandmas who gave us 'comforters' with the Holy Ghost talk. so of course we had to find daniel a comforter! so we found him one and stitched our names in it and i gave the gift of the Holy Ghost talk. When i said Hes like a 'couverture' or a blanket, sis eyre wrapped the blanket around him! it was so cute! then after the talks we went to the river where his brother got to baptize him!! and after we came back to the chapel and sister Valmy bore her testimony, and she was just so happy that finally her son got the priesthood and got to baptize his brother, Daniel because daniel had wanted to be baptized for so long!!

also, another awesome part of the baptism was that our ami FABRICE came!! he is so cool we've been teaching him for a couple weeks (and of course chloe was there too) and he came and was just like introducing himself to everyone.  sis eyre and I both probably had about 4 lessons with him while he was there and i was like the spirit is very strong here, especially at church. and he was like 'yes its strong i think its just new for me but i can feel it' oh man that was just so cool. he keeps telling us hes gonna go to the celestial kingdom (first hes gotta come to church!!) haha so that was awesome

and then church was just so great. i felt like i was just at home! haha sister valmy got right up there and bore her testimony and i wish i had as strong of a testimony as her! she said 'so ive been praying for more love in my life, and then the Lord sent the sister missionaries' and me and sis eyre are just crying. oh i just love the valmy family so much! got  fhe with them tonight too! life is good! la vie est belle! ill let you all know how training is! i love this church so much and i love being a missionary!

ps; my new apartment just feels like girls camp all day everyday haha its so fun

Love you all,

Heaven is just a continuation of the ideal home

  Dear Ones,

That is a quote from Preach My Gospel that Sister Eyre and I studied on the WEDDING DAY about eternal marriage in honor of the sealing of my beautiful sister Tressa to Dr Rylee Stevens!!! (Stephens?) hah woops! anyways! despite the fact that I wasn't there, Heavenly Father blessed me with lots of things to think about this week, I'll try and describe to you my week!!!

First, it was zone conference! So with the Mehrs, President and Sister Mehr and such such WONDERFUL people. The best part about them is that they both just wish they could be missionaries like us again haha and Sister Mehr actually went with us to an appointment that was just awesome. Anyways, so at zone conference we learned we have to use our time wisely and I just loved listening to President and Sister Mehr. They are so wise. And then I had my interview and I learned I will be TRAINING NEXT TRANSFER! Staying in Goyave THANK GOODNESS!! but training a 24 year old from Florida! She knows Creole so I'm gonna learn some Creole hopefully!!! SO STOKED!!!!! I can't wait. Sad to leave Sister Eyre but we both had a lot to think about this week because she's opening up a new area and I get to train a girl! good times!

So. This week! Sister Valmy. I've talked about her before she is a ward missionary who is the definition of magnifying your calling! she literally took our whole schedule last night haha so she could work with us, this is how missionary work should be people!! Member work is really the BEST thing that works! So she is just fired up to work with us and it is the best. So also, her daughter Jeanne, has a friend Chloe who she invited to an activity first, then church and now we've been teaching her! and she's my LENA!! If you remember Tressa's mission experience! haha and ask SIster Eyre, I have been searching for my Lena. Anyways, so we taught her with Sister Mehr and then we felt like she could be baptized May 3. So, this is an experience that I will remember the rest of my life. We went to the Valmy's house to teach Chloe, and first we showed her Joseph Smith history video which really invited the Spirit, then we taught about baptism and asked her if she would be baptiized on the 3rd and she said 'how do i know?' and so we asked her to pray with us right then, so she did. But then after the prayer Sister Valmy was like 'Chloe, if you want to know, you have to be specific!!!' so then sister valmy offerred a prayer, and then Chloe was really excited and offered a prayer but first we told her how it would be like in DC 9 8-10;. so after her prayer, we said 'chloe, how do you feel,' and she was like 'rien.' (nothing), and we just waited. then she put her hand on her heart and was like ' i feel it! in my heart, its happy, its joyeuse! its warm! ...thats wierd!' and we said 'chloe, thats the holy ghost' and it was just so spiritual and we were just so happy and excited. so now, she knows she should be baptized on the third but this week we were just working with the mom to get permission! oh man....  she knows she has to get baptiized the third!

but, sinon! iif not! still! sister valmy's 9 year old son is not baptized yet because her oldest son isnt a priest yet, but this ssunday he got it! because of us! sister valmy is so happy shes like 'thanks to these 2 soeurs, samuel has the preisthood and now daniel is getting baptized!!'

so. this week i have been busy! Heavenly Father blessed me with a busy week and i was sad i wasnt there but im happy that my sister is now married for time and all eternity!!! and i nkow i needed to be here this week to help all these wonderful things happen! i know this church is true! and i know that heaven is just a contiinuation of the ideal home because i want heaven to be just like my home was and how im trying to help the homes here be :)

love you all!

Christ-like love can change the world

Hello everyone!

My week! First it started with the greatest april fools prank because we had district meeting on april fools and we totally got our district, the other elders, with the classic toothpaste in oreos trick HAHA! they were so mad! and most of them actually ate them!

Then, that same day, we taught this wonderful family that we found contacting. they are so great! we taught them the plan of salvation with the Book of Mormon and they are reading the Book of Mormon now, the mom and her daughter in law are now! wow! But boy is the Spirit strong in families! They were so receptive it was amazing! its like Elder L Tom Perry said heaven is loving families living close together. That's what the celestial kingdom is! loving families living close together! im so grateful for my family that has raised me so well!

We also do splits every Thursday with Sister Richmond, the senior couple here from Tahiti, and Sister Valmy who lives here and is from France. They are like my two moms, I love them both so much haha so don't worry mom I'm being taken care of here. Haha but I still miss you, but anyways I love to see the faith of members working. Our religion is a religion of FAITH and HOPE. i love it!

Conference was so good too. We got to watch it at the 'stake center' in english with all the misssionaries. In between sessions my district president, President BonBon was cutting coconuts with a machete for us to eat and drink, haha so Carribean!

Love you all so much! One of my favorite quotes from conference this week was from Jeffrey R Holland.'Pure Christ-like love can change the world.' I wanna change the world! my new goal is to give everyone I meet some pure Christ-like love. Love you all!

Closer to Christ

Mom and Dad,
Hi! So this week I just really want to talk to you and dad like I'm talking to you! I just want you to know whats up in my life!!

Missionary work itself! There is this man, his name is Patrick. Sis Eyre found him with her old companion. by the way this is sis eyre's 3rd transfer in the field... crazy! were both so young!!!! anyways Patrick, he's kinda crazy, he doesnt come to church and sometimes dodges our rendezvous... but he knows its true!! my secret desire is that he will get baptized on the 26th to distract me but thats really selfish. Anyways, we have a lesson with him with the branch president, president Bon bon and it was so good! He knows he needs to get baptized! He just hasn't come to church recently... man. but! the lesson was so good! we were talking about the temple and he was just like smiling so big it was totally a celestial smile and i was just so happy! iI just really wanna give him a hug in the celestial room! Patrick is the best! but hes a bit all over the place! wWe have a talent show on friday and he said hes gonna write a song about Jesus and sing it and we're gonna sing the chorus with him... haha!! PATRICK! i love him! i really want him to get baptized so he can help this branch and for his eternal life!!

So we've got a lot of people were teaching and people love to talk to us but we're just trying to get these people to PROGRESS!! wWe always have stuff to do, people to teach! I love my missionary life in Goyave im scared when it will change! We have to move, but thats ok, we'll still be in goyave till the end of this transfer.

I read ch 6 of Preach my Gospel this week and I really think its changed my life. read it mom, youd love it! and dad! and family! everyone should love it! Our purpose as missionaries is to bring others closer to Christ and I know when I act like Him thats how I get closer to Christ. And I just always try to bring anyone around me closer to Christ. That is literally why I'm here, I love Christ so much and I just want everyone to know how good he is and all that He's done for us!

Actually mamacita, french is good! I can have fluid conversation now. like solidly!! I work really hard to improve it because its not beautiful or good french but i can hold a conversation pretty solidly! such a miracle! and i realizwe at this point, i just have to work really hard to be that missionary I want to be. If i want someting to happen I need to make it happen! and Im really trying to make me the person I want to be.. a leader, like Christ, fixing things that bug me about myself. why wait, what a better time than now to do it?

Well I love you both so much, Im so lucky to work with Sister Eyre. Pdays we just  hang out all day and look at each other and say 'AND we get to teach people about Jesus together!" I love her so much! we love each other so much!

I love you both so so much, thanks for your love and support, im tryin to make you proud! love you!
